Washington State University Contracts Office

Strategic Plan

We are a customer service oriented office with the responsibility of drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and executing contracts related to the business and administrative affairs of the University.

We work directly with in-state and out-of-state vendors, educational institutions, public and governmental agencies, and legal professionals in representing the University in the contracting process.

We review, process and assist in the negotiation of a variety of contracts including but not limited to:

  • Real Estate Agreements
  • Interagency Agreements
  • Cooperative Agreements
  • Commercial and Residential Lease Agreements
  • Entertainment Agreements (Beasley Coliseum)
  • Student Affiliation Agreements

We process and negotiate complex and unique agreements, often in conjunction with the Attorney General’s Office.

We create and maintain template agreements for use by various University Departments and provide access and information to the University through our Contracts Web site.

We answer questions and provide general assistance to the University community about the contracting process as well as the business and administrative affairs of the University.

We participate in the formulation, development, revision, and implementation of University contracting procedures through the University Contracts Committee.

We provide Contracts training to Departments covering a variety of topics including:

  • Basic elements of contracts
  • Delegation of authority requirements
  • Process overview
  • State agency restrictions
